Soy Sauce Pourer No. 1

A small lidded pourer for soy sauce, shaped entirely by hand using Tama-zukuri and Kurinuki. I pinched the clay to build its form, then carved and hollowed it out without a potter’s wheel.

The pourer was fired in an anagama wood kiln with soda. The firing left a deep, glossy black surface with traces of brown and olive. Its folds and raised marks remain visible beneath the changing surface, giving each side a different character.
